Four Excuses Never Forgotten
Not Today
Sorry I can't.
If I had more notice.
Maybe next time.
Only one noticed his face fall,
but she stuck by her decision anyway
not thinking it would make any difference.
Four excuses
Never forgotten, although it has been twenty-one years now.
Because there was
No next time.
If one had stayed, it might have made
a difference. But none did.
