Forgotten Fears
Betrayal feels like you suffered a death,
giving a new definition to loss.
And a storm of pent-up fear is unleashed
as wishes and disappointment crisscross.
Feelings drift in a stupor of despair,
where pledges of love hold little meaning.
And liars consistently feign feelings,
embellishing lies in need of screening.
Hurt inks your world in livid shades of blue,
lamenting the colors of yesterday.
And truth hides under deceptive layers,
as lies are repeated day after day.
Memories fill you with anxiety
as dreams drown within a river of tears.
And when you're stuck in the past, your heart hurts,
reliving lost dreams and forgotten fears.
