Forget-Me-Not Words

When our loved ones depart, they fly away like birds but we remember them by writing forget-me-not words. Once, we stood on the banks of the same flowing river, but life courses changed, now we stand alone and shiver. How difficult it is knowing we will never see them again. A cause for tears to fall in our hearts like cold winter rain. With poetic forget-me-not words we continue to express the sorrowfully surreal emotions that we cannot suppress. Although our tomorrows may bring sunshine into our lives, mention of your name is a flame that lingers and survives. You'd be glad to know our town is now called Milton Creek and stories of you are treasured in every word we speak. January 7, 2023 ~ With fond memories

Lovely, Jenna. I have kind of stayed away. Even for a fringe newcomer, his kind soulful presence was huge. What his loss is like for you who knew him for years, I can only imagine (wow, I didn't mean to reference that song, but in so doing, I feel lighter :) ) I miss him, too. See you on Milton Creek. --Drifter Steve

Thank you, Steven. You never have to feel the need to stay away, but that was very respectful of you. Feel free to visit the Creek anytime. I like "Drifter Steve." You may find you like it in Milton Creek. ;)

I can sense much feeling of pain in these heartfelt words.... Jenna. The thought that we will never see those who departed to the other shore of life, leaves us in pain. But the forget me not words keep them alive. In proportion to the amount of love we have for them, they keep living in our hearts. A heartfelt tribute to Milton !

It was painful to write, even more so because I wasn't able to get into my account to post it sooner. Thanks, Valsa.

Holding onto, "fond memories." I know this feeling so well, and words will always be. Your friendship with Milton was tender and true. He'll always be with you. His words live on, and we'll never forget him. This is such a lovely tribute. My best to you. Hugs, Brandy

Hi David and thank you for finding these lines uplifting. His memory is one we all hold dear, and now I'll write of other things... always looking for his comments, and though they won't appear, I know what he'd say. He didn't miss many.

Beautiful verse Jenna, I'll certainly miss his encouraging and supporting comments on here as will everyone else. He'll never be forgotten we'll make sure of that. Still remember when you told me the sad news of his passing, I just froze trying to make sense of what I was reading. Tom

I'm honored by your words, Tom, and happy to have known him. When I searched for his full name, I think I knew what I'd find, and like you... I stared at his obit with disbelief. I'll make this my last poem of bereaving. He'd not want us to dwell on his passing with sadness.
