For My Hubbie, Still the One
We started out at age nineteen.
still babies, both of us so green!
In just five years, two kids we had.
We had good times; we had some bad.
Such crazy things that you would do,
and yet somehow we muddled through!
I have faults too; I think it’s great
my flaws you also tolerate!
Acceptance grew and we have learned
a strong bond is the gift we’ve earned.
Some forty-three years as your wife
amounts to more than half my life!
I’d rarely thought about the day
when we would both be turning grey.
It came so fast, and now it’s here!
But with you, there is less to fear.
Just look at us and all we’ve got.
You’re still the one, and that’s a LOT!
