For Me

I have tasted life’s pleasures I have known life’s pain Lord, you sent to me the sunshine You sent for me the rain It seems like the wrong roads Were the roads I’ve known so well I have traveled many years Just a few steps away from Hell Now as my days and nights become shorter And I’m overcome by fear You sent for me the comfort Of knowing that You’ll always be near Oh Father please forgive me For all the wrongs I’ve done Let me make better choices In the footsteps of Your Son You sent to me the blessings I see them every day You sent for me the trials So I may find my way Your Son, Jesus, came to me And led me through the strife And I know He died for me So I might find everlasting life.

Well, this was certainly words to live by, being repentant for our wrongs is what the Almighty wants from us. You know, I remember when I was little and I used to cry because I wanted to be an angel, and my mum used to tell me that I was better 'cos God had given me the choice of doing right or wrong, and that if I chose right, I would be among His favourites. You remind me of Red Skelton and Jackie Gleason and lots of other comics who, when they are "serious", can bring tears to the eye and a swelling of the heart. You're a wonderful writer and I so appreciate your talent and support!!

An inspirational write, Vincent. I apologize for missing everyone's poetry at PSoup for the past few months. I want you to know that I appreciate your insightful, creative and oft-times humorous ditties. Your wit is quite infectious - and you truly are an asset to this community/poetry site. Just thought I'd share that with you. In the meantime, wishing you and your family a Happy and Healthy holiday season. Be well and enjoy the upcoming yuletide festivities! Peace and happiness always, John
