For Fans of French

I tell you of a friend who's so fond of everything french She didn't call her a frenchie when she saw one on a bench Her favorite food french fries and syruped french toast She's been to lots of 'franchised' places including Ivory Coast. She eats à la carte, she dresses à la mode She claims to reside in some french-doored abode Her most preferred greens are buttered french beans Ah, she loves to frequent, the delicatessen for french delicacies and cuisines And in her chic dinnette to welcome guests to a french love of feast the well known words: why yes, bon-appétite! To follow all french fashions seems to be her raison d'être She'd crazily sign all her letters with 'sil vous plait' And when she wants to mingle with her french coterie inviting them over for more of 'bonjour' and 'mérci' Ah, then she'd appear quite soignée for her soirée By and by to enhance and enliven her bon-homie. She wouldn't ever wish me 'safe journey' She'd  french-quip it as 'bon voyage'. Once when I said, 'you made a blooper, pal'' Retorted she, 'you mean a faux pas? '' Non-french variations of anything, to her are boring and passé but many of her type come sojourning, settling here Making me wonder then at their immigrations here enmasse for this land was never a french hold, mademoiselle dear. Well at times nostalgia does overcome her Then she fancies having everywhere some déjavu Gosh once on asking why she had missed a meeting She snapped her fingers, 'coz you didn't call it a rendezvous.'' If english language vis-à-vis french she's bound to claim it's french tis par excellence I wouldn't know for with french I ain't that au fait Gosh, if she caught a couple conversing in low tones she'd be quick to term it, 'aha, a tête-a-tête! She married an old timer and startled him with her french kiss display only to abandon him a few months later to look for a better joie de vivre Well my friend she does come from the former french colony of Cotê de Voire And always to my goodbyes cheriè she reciprocates with au revoir! Tis a pity I cant write her a french chef-d'oeuvre but let all admit french just ain't a bêtenoire. So though some of this may only be a figment of my imagination But it's observing the universal lure of french terms sure granted me some inspiration. HOPE u enjoy my bon mot hee hee cherè n cheriés. ( I like French too coz Maurice Bucaille was a french scientist who converted to Islam and my french teacher was so nice to me)

Your poem is wonderful - a bon mot! I love anything French but especially the beautiful language. I tried to learn French with Rosetta Stone years ago, and I knew most of the rules but couldn't converse. if there's a next time, I want to be born in France :)

Yes, French is such a beautiful language, and it makes a sensual poem even more alluring. Your thoughts bring a smile to "mes yeux." This is "mignon et astucieux." I'm a fan of French, as you can tell. :) My best to you, S.zaynab. :) Brandy

I am not flattering you my friend. I tell you truly: This poem is a gem. An absolute satire and irony on any maniac (whether French or other); A detailed depiction of each satiric idea; Handpicked (or mind-picked, surely well-selected) words; beautifully created image; word painting... Wow! Of course, no doubt, many have liked this precious work. I remembered, while reading your work, a story, “The Last Lesson” , in which there is ‘Vive la France’, but that was a partiotic piece. Want to read many more from you. Keep writing. My best wishes and prayers are with you. Lovingly, Chris.
