Image result for pictures of a light snow in the southWritten last week when we had the snow. January 21 and 22, 2025.

. Dawn revealed a radiance From the fallen snow of yesterday Looking out the door did reveal Sparrows Feeding through little cracks In snow's blanket upon the driveway The Leland Cyperus' limbs are confectioner's Sugar dusted Pecan trees' naked skeletons white laminated Wonderful rising sun upon the horizon Casting radiating yellow between the shadowy trees The light shrouds me with peace As the quiet fills me with content Then the call of the crow Alarms, awakens I wonder what food source they will have In the snow To carry them this cold day

Your winter imagery is so soothing. But along with you, I too wonder how birds and animals find food when the entire land lies laden with snow. Beautiful poem, Sara.

such a vibe! The imagery is so peaceful, I can almost feel the calm of the morning and hear the sparrows. Also, the crow's call is like the perfect contrast. Loved it !!!

Victor, I try to keep out a few sees for the birds when I think food might be scarce, but I don't know if that is doing them a favor. I hope it is. They really come in on bad days to feed. I like to plant things that they can come in and enjoy in the fall and then in winter like coneflower, rudbeckia(black-eyed Susan), etc. Thanks for dropping by . Sara K

Dear Sara, The snow was a welcome since we did not get any last year. I love how your words are a quiet masterpiece, a serene morning picture alive with light, life, and reflection. You’ve captured nature’s simple wonders with such grace. Winter Blessings, My Dear Friend, Daniel

Dear Sara, excellent poem. It contrasts winter beauty with wildlife's hardships in the cold. It explores dawn's calm and winter's severity, as well as birds' survival in the snow.

Why, thank you, Lasaad. I appreciate the visit and kind review of my work. It was some cold weather for us and the wildlife, and I have to say thank you to God for protecting us from the power going out. Sara K

A beautiful picture and a great write, Sara. I hope the crow’s meal wasn’t a sparrow. Wishing you a fabulous new week ahead, my friend.

No, Zyrool, crows don't usually eat fresh meat. They will eat something killed on the side of the road if desperate. Mostly they like grains like corn or nuts like pecans. They will eat large bugs and worms. Thanks for the nice review. Sara K
