Dedicated to my amazing son

FLYING HIGH My home ... an empty nest Permanent reminders of you scattered around like fallen twigs Old school photographs bring a lump to my throat You have spread your wings, flown the nest, broadened your horizons Like a Swallow I hope you will return again one day soon My best free verse from May 2018 sponsored by Laura Loo 5/10/18

I just read this wonderful little poem of yours, Jan, and I loved it....especially the line about the "swallows" returning home...just like we hope our children will do. One of mine finally returned recently and so this poem really resonated with me. Loved it.

WOW! Jan, this poem is deeply touching my heart with your heartache. Such a perfect and poignant poem of heartfelt and bittersweet expression. The melancholy beauty of the emotional depth of your poem is stunning, especially your last two lines.. Warmest wishes.. ~Susan

While my horse was gallantly gallivanting, Soon out of breath, he had been panting, And did die; Don't know why; Damp daisies on grave will be planting. Will have to figure out how to add pictures to my poems. Looks great

If your poetry reflects your parenting skills the time of the return is only thing in dispute. Hope your health is stable at present. Best regards David in NZ

This is a very good poem. Empty nest I haven't got there yet. I had eleven children. My oldest is 42 and my youngest is 20. I can feel your love for your son in this poem. He knows you love him. He'll come home. Thanks for sharing.

With wings spread, they fly away and the ache in a mother's heart is one we all dread. But you've raised your son with love that is always returned. No matter the distance between, you know he loves you, too.
