"I only ask to be free as the butterflies are free." Quote _ by Charles Dickens O, butterflies so beautifully delicate . . . fluttering to my garden . . .where I have planted flowers for them to sip sweet nectar with their long tongue yes, bring all your lovely friends and they come fluttering, fluttering to kiss the swaying flowers ~ do you know that the butterfly is a metaphor for transformation, hope, new beginnings, for resurrection and triumph of spirit ~ I adore their reflective, iridescent wings such intense colors that make the butterfly a beautiful flying insect like a flying garden flower purple, blue, orange and yellow wings that mingle with the rainbow flowers in my garden such sublime gems . . . ~ do you know life is short for a butterfly for only a few weeks the butterfly lives in the moment O, from colorless caterpillar to divine winged creature ~ caught in the rain I have seen them stay perfectly still until the drops stop and they dry their wings and that they sleep hanging from a branch or leaf in deep foliage, so I have bushes for them I have given them a water bath to dip wings for days that are hot . . . O, little flying insect gems I truly "adore" you. . . "Whisper a wish to a butterfly and it will fly up to Heaven and make it come true." Quote - Unknown

I missed seeing this beautiful poem on butterflies ! How thoughtfully you have made arrangements for these fragle creatures to survive the ravages of climate. Here your imagination flies on butterfly wings. Congratulations, dear Constance on your twin win in two prestigious competitions !

Constance, The picture you chose is as beautiful as your lovely poem. I especially like the last stanza about your providing bushes and a water bath for the delicate butterflies so they can safely sleep and also cool their wings. Congratulations on your win on Mile 10 of my 2022 Poetry Marathon Contest. Keep your running shoes on, because Mile 11 has already started. Also, check out my blog post to view your current standing in the Marathon.

Hi Constance, and congratulations for running a great Mile 10. I've always thought how sad that the few butterflies who transform live for such a short time. They cannot fly while their wings are wet, and that reminded me of your previous name~Broken Wings. I enjoyed your lines.

Sadly, they live a very short life. Fragile creatures and only 5% of laid eggs make it to the chrysalis stage. They are divine and so is your poem, Constance.
