"I only ask to be free as the butterflies are free."
Quote _ by Charles Dickens
O, butterflies so beautifully delicate . . .
fluttering to my garden . . .where I have planted flowers
for them to sip sweet nectar with their long tongue
yes, bring all your lovely friends
and they come fluttering, fluttering
to kiss the swaying flowers
~ do you know that the butterfly is a metaphor for
transformation, hope, new beginnings, for resurrection
and triumph of spirit ~
I adore their reflective, iridescent wings
such intense colors that make the butterfly
a beautiful flying insect like a flying garden flower
purple, blue, orange and yellow wings
that mingle with the rainbow flowers in my garden
such sublime gems . . .
~ do you know life is short for a butterfly
for only a few weeks the butterfly lives in the moment
O, from colorless caterpillar to divine winged creature ~
caught in the rain I have seen them stay perfectly still
until the drops stop and they dry their wings
and that they sleep hanging from a branch or leaf
in deep foliage, so I have bushes for them
I have given them a water bath to dip wings
for days that are hot . . . O, little flying insect gems
I truly "adore" you. . .
"Whisper a wish to a butterfly and it will fly
up to Heaven and make it come true."
