Florida Nature
tall trees with tongues of roots, sinew,
ply their way into the river's bank,
and deep the river, peace and sway,
links the day to to the green wet night
and in the dim mid-distance, where the
water fades , a palate of gingamon moss
lays and folds the sequinned lights into the
quilt of coloured earth; all set for when the
piercing wetlands sun, lie down it's wicker
head to sleep
true be this place to corporeal heaven, of path's
lit way, a broad cacophony of colour, ready for
the heron's sound, amid the prancing, rigid
silver-bellied fish
and to my Florida home, the state of beauty,
hue and nuance; I give this day, this entreaty
to the mighty sword, that carved my home this way.
