First Love
A prom date led me to an enchanted time
when you tenderly grasped my hand
and nestled me closer around your waist,
rendering breath and heart to pulsate
in flickers of eyes drawn like hazy moths.
The hours whirled in young love’s surrender…
entwined by rhythms of autumn flames
that I yielded to your musky charms
only to leave me lifeless in the dark.
Although I found that special someone
and the years between us had drained away,
alienating us both our entwined lives
those deep reveries, those autumn nights...
have managed to linger deep
within my thoughts.
