First Encounter

Eyes
contact,
brief at first,
then a shy smile
as gentle blushes
tint an ivory mask,
unearthing bygone colours
long since buried ‘neath fallen stones.
A light touch of skin ignites a spark,
tentatively stirring a sleeping heart.
