First Sunbeam
FIRST SUNBEAM
Ray of clear sun shows
Across the heaps of snows
The whiteness's rival,
Announcing the soon arrival

Welcome yellows,
Not yet melting -
Calling distantly to spring.
A simple beam of light
Warning the winter’s white:
Our time is now, brother -
You must move over for another

Note:
Canadian winters can be long and severe, and the
first hint of an ending is when the sun breaks through,
even though it is still freezing weather.
