Fields of Grey
Upon jagged rocks I dwell
the sea crashing to my rear
I look upon the land
rolling hills once vibrant and green
now lay barren
a mist fills the air and fills my eyes
remembering fields of daisies
where we used to run
where the doe and her fawn would rest
and the butterflies
would so merrily play
I gaze out now onto the fields that turned grey
and remember those happier times
when life was so simple
when there was only love in the air
when freedoms were cherished
and man and nature were friends
I sit here in amazement for what could have been
the joy, the excitement
all gone astray
should I stand up and fight for her
or let it all slip away
