Feeling Good
FEELING GOOD
The moment is charged
Out of God’s blue heaven I’m feeling fine
I haven’t checked the weather,
But it must be cloudless and bright
There is a chattering alive from somewhere
out there
The wild creatures must feel it too,
This urge to shout nonsense,
To throw hands in the air,
This gathering of all heaviness
And with a meaningful pat, expand!
Stupid me
To sit and rationalize
Instead of striding forth
(what is it about this particular morning?)
(has some sudden cure been miraculously
realized?)
And I sit
And I sit,
Not daring to glance outside
Alas the cat wants out,
Insisting with such energy
That all my own drains away
And I shout,
“DAMN CAT!”
