Feathers and Memories

You always let me crush the milk jug Put taps on my favorite pair of shoes When you made chocolate chip cookie dough, You let us sneak an extra spoon I remember playing while you would work You taught me how to aim a gun Standing at the top of aunt Ida's barn Jumping into your arms was so much fun I followed in your footsteps, dad Did you walk the right path for me? Life's harder now that you are gone I'm left with feathers and memories My kids are growing up so fast I wish they knew your smile I wish Heaven had a phone Just to talk a little while Your bells hang through my home now Your pictures on my wall Your letters where I can see them I still wish that I could call Just to say I love you Because I know you knew But to say I love you again Because I'm always thinking of you
