Lost in thought A window’s edge A light breeze there did caress Whispering not of Booming birds But of angels featherless So now when I pray Beneath these bars My broken skull I press I pray not to Boasting bloated birds But to angels featherless

I like the short, crisp lines of your poem so free of adjective embellishments. The allusion to imprisonment is quite a fine jolt for the reader. The "b" alliteration is very effective too. Congratulations! There is much to be said for minimalism. Cheers, Brian

hmmm, one of the Angels who's feathers have fallen ... completely...all off, and left standing naked on the perch. I love it. This poem is very apt for the times. I have to say, the angels featherless, are the ones to directly approach (if one has the courage) ... and to speak to, because they've the first hand experience and the practical (not theoretical) answers to questions. Excellent write.

I really liked the jolt in what was going through my mind while reading this poem when I got to the third stanza, sudden realisation of bars at the window.
