Faustian bargain prompt 10/02/23

Came back for no good reason, other than making a splash Recoiling in horror, when my demons emit a flash Anointed by unholy chrism, absolves me from the trash Can oil ever be sacred, when not making ready cash So would heaven be enough, if eternal less one day It's said hell lasts forever, burning plasma if we stray I belong in purgatory, in its orbit i'll stay Even a rogue event horizon, couldn't drag me away Innards will remain hidden, til grotesquely overblown A hungry mouth sets up residence, seeking a new home Put two and two together, you see the vision i've sown A metaphorical language, this tongue I call my own In the end love conquers all, even love tainted by hate I loath its taste in my mouth, pity I’m hooked on the bait

An intriguing Sonnet, David. I like it. I like a man willing to tell it like it is in his or her opinion. You certainly fit the category. Somehow, I seem to relate to many of the thoughts you have, though on the outside we may seem very different. Thanks for sharing your thoughts through your poetry, my friend. Write On! Bill

It is an acquired taste Christopher, but its the middle ground I find myself in at the moment, most people have it worse than me, and live in the real hell on earth, heaven can also be found here, but only by a select few, I believe everyone has some demons in their heads, cheers David

In the US of A it's that time[politics] debates (sides) can sound or feel like what you've described, David either/. You make purgatory a place I'd want to be, I mean, if you awake there that is all you know, point being we must decide. What Provokes Putin's Russia? — strategy evokes the concept. Thanks Anaya for that very kind comment, I’ve been away for a bit now, US politics is indeed the place for Faustian bargains, they make them every other day, I suppose the whole world is the same, but without the power of the US, yeah I always preferred Manson’s tainted love over the Soft Cell original, life is indeed our purgatory, and live in it we must, cheers David

I once redeemed my soul from the pawnshop window, in a Monoku I wrote some time ago Lin, the expedient way sometimes works, but brinksmanship is a very dangerous game!

Chocolate always works, David. Proceed at your discretion. lol That sounded very formal. I've chosen to write about Faust, too. I haven't begun to gather my words or thoughts, but I'll get there without selling my soul. I'm sure your soul is intact because I've never known you to take the low road.

Thanks Lin, I’ve had a lot of stuff to digest while away, perhaps it felt like I was selling my soul again, I seen Ed’s contest, and thought why not give it a go, I’ve a lot of catching up to do, and will try to get back into the soup over the week ahead, I’ve just had a chocolate biscuit with a cup of tea, and feeling much better now, cheers David
