Farts and Silent Stinkers Premiere Contest Winner

It is always at Christmas that I feel the spirits of my family the most and as I unwrap the Christmas tree decorations that I inherited from my mother and grandma I can hear them sigh with love I touch the decorations like they were the most precious things in the world and the spirits gather to wrap me in a tender embrace and it is wonderful, blissful, divine until, one spirit lets out a huge fart that one is father, for sure oh, he could be a real stinker in life and its nice to know he has not changed in his heavenly realm I can hear mom and grandma and grandpa and my sister giggling it is just like the Christmases of yesteryear full of love and laughter and my husband is quietly holding our baby boy in his arms smiling (for they both RIP) oh, even my sweet grandma used to let out a silent stinker as she passed by I would give anything to have my family back (even with the loud farts and the silent stinkers) _____________________ September 18, 2021 Poetry/Free Verse/Farts and Silent Stinkers Copyright Protected, ID 09-1389-684-18 All Rights Reserved, 2021, Constance La France Written for the Premier contest, Fart-tastic sponsor, Chantelle Anne Cooke, Judged 09/27/2021 First Place

That's a precious poem, and very clever. I had never thought about spirits farting, but I bet they're musical :)

Constance, congratulations for your first place win, but I couldn't imagine how you would write the poem. Anyway, after reading it, I understood, and I realized how good it is. The contest was just not in my comfort zone, so I "passed" on it. (chuckling)

People tend to underrate smell, e.g., one girl I knew kept the sheets on which we first made love in bag which she would open to sniff from time to time, and psychics claim the dead exude all kinds of odours, so best wishes for more pleasants scents!

Alexis, thanks so much for the compliment, this was so far out of my comfort zone, but I ended up with nostalgia, love, sadness, grief and laughter all in one poem, so win or lose, I am happy with this poem ~ love and serenity _Constance

Yes, Constance, we will take the stinkers back. A week ago found some teacups smashed (my great-grandmas) but when I thought about, we’d break everyone to have our loved ones back. God bless!

Kim, thanks for the comment on my poem. I have china tea cups that were my grandmas too, ridiculous to actually use for tea, two sips and finished. But so pretty, so I picked out a few I loved to keep and gave the rest to a nursing home for their tea parties with the old folks ~ love and serenity _Constance
