Clucking and crowing,
Hens cackling echoes
Telling me it’s time for
The morning rounds
Feeding and watering
Bawling with brevity
Calf yearning for milk
While the bull paws
The dirt, curling his lip
Pursuing the cow’s heart
Oink, oink, oink resonates
Through the barnyard
Drifting into the rafters
Telling a tale of devouring
Gone to the pig’s head
There is never any boredom
Found on a farm’s soil
Where animals tend to
Greet other animals
As companions in history
I love the flavors of insight
Discovered in this natural
Intimacy with domestic life
Where God blesses the
Tranquility and grace of home
