Farewell To Summer
You came like roses on a scented dream
Leaving birdsongs in fields of green
And then you flowed ever gently down the stream
Your morning dew kisses so serene
Your caresses were tender and warm
You relaxed us with rays of charm
As you blew softly through the leaves
With raindrops you gave us sweet relief
We loved your gift of butterflies
We watched in glee as they fluttered by
But then you had to say goodbye
Oh how we wished you could tarry for a while
Your leaving often made us sigh
As you took your warm rays to other places in the sky
And when you left you took the leaves with you
And then you took your skies of blue
But we know that one day you'll return
Until then, for you we'll yearn
