Farewell

2020 taught us many things; And freedom wasn’t one of them Be it physical or mental Everyone fought their captors.. Some succumbed, some overcame, The hurdles meant to terminate them Few gained profits, many bore losses For some, it was the beginning Others turned the page, Hoping this chapter is sealed for life Many left our side, few covered the glamour Drifted to someplace unknown to mankind Taught us the value of things, big and small Every tiny bit that makes up life Taught us the uncertainty of time, To live in the present, for the future Brings what surprises, we don’t know To love those, dear to us, and cherish Memories of the past, lost in the times That change is inevitable, we humans Can adapt in ways good or bad As the date changed, I wish For change, where the old normal, Returns with reunions and parties Trips with friends and holidays with family With school bells and college bunks Long hand shakes and warm hugs I wish not for 1 year, but 365 days, 365 opportunities, countless moments Of happiness, celebrations without reasons ‘Cause that’s what counts, isn’t it? When we tally our book of life.. Welcoming the new year, with Hope and expectations, as we Proceed to a new chapter in life To the year, who taught me many things With no hatred in my heart, I bid you Farewell...

Thanks for sharing this... exposing your thoughts through your unique poetic style. Meanwhile, I greet you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Be blessed.
