Familiar Silhouette
Loneliness is the mask that I wear,
creating itself over time.
I look at a face that doesn't care.
Though I recognize it as mine.
Telltale lines linger there,
of years come and gone.
Shadows of gray, the color I wear.
Light that once was, has withdrawn.
A misty veil clouds my eyes,
in an effort to hide my tears.
The pain there, I can't disguise.
while holding back my fears.
I welcome darkness, I no longer see
the scars that life left behind.
I remember, the face that was me,
a familiar silhouette in my mind.
