Face-Painted Me
I believe in me…
I believe in being free
Yes, you, alone…
But I’m not alone or on my own
I receive grace with thee
And, thee alone, I’d be
But, what about me?
What about me anyways?
There’s nothing to see
Just these fragile days
These three words…
Yes, it’s ‘I love you’
But I hate me…
Me? I believe in…
In being free? It’s a win-win
Lose-lose…
You snooze, you lose
You drink booze, you’re screwed
What’s this old news?
What’s it all about? Am I renewed?
Not he nor she…
It’s just me I hate overall…
I hate loathing me
I will eventually stand tall…
To a certain degree,
I wish to be free…
Face-painted me?
Possibly…just maybe…
How come I feel this way?
How come today is not the day?
Because, tonight, I’ll be free
Free to be me…
Baby, can’t you see
You’re hurting me?
I’m sorry if you read this poem and think
It’s you I adore, but I swore it’s not to be
Because I’m ruining me…
With this face-painted me?
No, you complete me
I’m sorry you couldn’t see
The man I’ve become…
What a woman I don’t want to succumb to…now, I’m feeling numb
For now, I’ll hold on tightly
For now, I’ll be delightfully…me…
Somehow, words escape me…
I can’t even remember names anymore…
But, honey, I’m free as free can be…
Can’t you see this chapter in my life is not the end of…
You and me…
Me and you?
Can’t you see this chapter in my life is purity and love?
But, honey, I thought you were free
Without me, without me
We are painted a difficult, different hue…
It’s freedom that rings and rings, it does…freedom does ring and ring so true
We are tainted a drastic, shadowy blue
Goodbye to what lies ahead brings…or what lies within these oceanic, turquoise eyes of morning dew
What lies beneath has risen
It has given
- Me a reason to live life to the fullest
- Me a reason to love my face-painted me
The third reason isn’t given
And, yes, you are forgiven
