Eyes Never Sleep
Eyes Never Sleep
By Sunny
soft darkness serenades my skin
dancing petals of dying roses
anoint this broken winged bird
whirlwind of endless memories
nightmares tiptoe upon walls
reminding me once again
loneliness has never been kind
to a heart who sings shattered verse
yet here I sit, basking to classical blues
deep voices strumming guitars
while fire from lit candles dance softly to the beat
shadow dancers become companions
Inviting sleep to comfort me
yet tattered eyes scream silently
frightening the sandman away
leaving his pebbled heart behind
