Nearing the end of life's rope,
time starts counting down the years.
And bereft of all but hope,
dreams drown in yesterday's tears.
Memories unlock the past,
with forgotten secret keys.
And release feelings amassed,
constantly trying to please.
Wisdom's finally arrived,
though some say it’s overdue.
But tolerance has survived,
and dignity did so too.
Magic is less enchanting,
for life’s lost its mystery.
And losers keep on ranting,
wanting to change history.
Death’s no longer so scary,
filling the role of a friend.
For all life’s temporary,
and everything has an end.
