Evergreen
Remember when you walked with me,
into forests of evergreen?
Our makeshift shelter, put together
by a canvas in which we painted with
our eyes; the stars, close together as
we were. Oh, how my heart ached for
the rise of constellations, and passion,
burned in our hearts like campfires
built from blistering hands.
Our bodies, wrapped around like a
twisted vine tree. And the forest
bearing witness to our humble
approach. For the wind whispered
to the forest that very night, the words
you spoke so eloquently, "I love you."
The earth heard the news, because
the sun rose moments after.
And the winds increased pressure
intending only to rise with the sun
on this joyous occasion.
As did my love, for you.
