Evening Comes
Evening comes with a quiet softness.
Welcome after the day's many demands.
Dinnertime has come and gone.
A sigh of relief, anticipating the next few relaxing hours.
Watching the sun as it appears to be slowly sinking into the ocean.
Also getting it's well deserved rest, known to be an early riser.
The beach, deserted, but for a few seagulls.
This is my time of day, my favorite time.
Walking in the surf, shoes in my hand.
Lifting my face to feel the evening breeze caress my cheek.
The only sound, waves breaking as they touch the shore.
I can walk and walk, not realizing how far.
I stay until the darkness reminds me it is late.
But a full moon, reflected on the water, will light my way.
As I make my way home along the path.
I feel a sense of peace and quiet solitude.
The evening, my time of day, my favorite time.
