So, young they were, when they first met.
They slowed dance with love under dim lights
when they got married.
Their children were born like little birds in a nest
as they taught them to love and be strong.
The years went by, and it took a lot of their youth
with it, but still there was so much joy.
As seasons went by and rainbows painted the skies,
they tilled and planted their fields in the Spring.
Their heart full of joy as they watched their labor,
flowers welcoming nature and fields ready to be harvested.
In the summer days they watched their surroundings change
in artistic color as fall followed; and snow glitter that fell
and hung heavy on the limbs in winter.
Now their hair of silver, their skin a little wrinkled
their steps a little slower, but with a youth feeling
of intense excitement and happiness as great as they walk
down the path home.
Their desire to continue their life together as they grow old,
a euphoria.
