Essence of Charity
Charity*: functional love
Constrained by God’s gracious care
Divine clemency sublime
Reaching me --- a wretch.
Charity: compassion-seal
Moving my heart by Christ’s love
To minister with gladness
Despite own burdens.
*2Thessalonians 1:3 We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth.
