Endless Staircase

ENDLESS STAIRCASE To watch spectacular sunset I reached on top of an abandoned tower in solitary sea beach. counting hundred steps. By strong iron railings top terrace is bounded Turbulent sea waves whirling, rolling and thrashing on the sandy shore Sun is down the horizon I am whispering an orison To God of Ocean Charming twilight got saturated in dark Sun rays left no single spark I am the loner in night of No Moon Sudden push on my back made me alert I turned and was horrified in discovering, Pressure from all sides to throw me beyond the railing With all my effort I was fighting, resisting, I am about to topple over the railing. On the verge of death, I regained my strength I released myself struggling utmost. I hurried to the staircase and start to descend Thank God, at last I am saved. I was coming down and started counting steps One, two……. Nineteen……thirty-seven……Fifty …. Seventy-three…. Ninety-nine, Hundred…Hundred and Sixty Five Hundred………. Nine Hundred…Countless stairs ahead. 05/18/20
