Cherished moments of you so dear
Mother, the past it calls, echoing
so throughout the years
In photographs they recently appear
The past so remote it feels
as though another lifetime
What now seems a dream,
brings upon me bittersweet tears
You were the security blanket
much needed in my youth
wrapped around a warm
embrace that soothed
night terrors, a child’s fears
Emblematic are those things I keep
bangles, earrings and castanets
rife with meaning I hold deep
conjuring times well spent
Losing ourselves in thrift shops,
the eclectic promenade
or the iconic ice-skating rink,
savoring all as I fall asleep
As I think of you, I ponder still
Memoirs better than a
feel good pill!
