Ebony Eyes
With ebony eyes I witness the splendor
The beauty of life so fragile and tender
Each moment is balanced on a slender thread
And can topple down by what's written or said
The effort put forth is tantamount to success
To enhance what you do or embrace those you bless
Each day you choose who'll be the recipient of
The weight of your grief or the gift of your love
As I watch those victims of others chagrin
I thank the stars at just how lucky I've been
Each year that passes I'll cherish like before
Till the day these ebony eyes are no more
