Easter Poetry Contest

Nature's rhythms flow into solstice and equinox Hours and eons ticked and tocked Sacred times overlaid onto the patterns of time Found ways into your religion and mine Stories shared by more than just one source Details mapped and reinforced Easter's meaning lost to some Bank holidays and chance of sun To others it's about sacrifice Greater reason to lead a good life Churches welcome back the flock Though the time does tick and tock Eternal order of earth and man Forever seeking to understand Easter Poetry Contest 12th March 2023 Sponsored by: Regina McIntosh

Unfortunately Easter's significance has been lost to the modern generation. Now it has become important as just being a holiday, with hardly any thought of the sacrifice behind it and the new hope it brings. I am not sure if you you grieve over that change. But certainly I do.

I tried to write something that wasn't too religious but still hovered on the brief. I always bring to mind the reason for Easter. Hopefully I haven't come across as flippant.
