Earth's Porch, Beyond Its Heavy Gate Sonnet number I of XII From dawn, its rays boldly gleaming, spring flowers covering new fields, Nature, beasts and plants both teeming their bounty true, as treasured yields. In this world, sun gifts us power tho' we oft waste its deep treasures. From its passing we judge our hours, while racing seeking more pleasures. Upon night's falling, its black veil Lo! The blackness and its dark walls Fear, we see black as its own hell and inside rings low ghostly calls. Earth's porch, beyond its heavy gate. Arms of fury held, Time awaits. Robert J. Lindley, January 25th, 1989 Sonnet in eights.. ( Earth, Mankind And Deeper Thoughts) Note: Brought from my private journal. Today seemed a good day to give it new life and light...

We do often waste too many of it's treasures; also causing ourselves to miss out on some wonderful moments. Well penned.

Night and day captured well in your sonnet form Robert. The day brings light and joy but the night is when your demons sometimes visit. Tom.

The rythyms of day and night exude such emotional and physical influence over mankind, poets and Earth alike. A deep write of many moods, my dear friend. Your talent shines in this wondrous gem, dear Robert. Warmest wishes always my wonderful friend.. ~ Susan

Black often gets a bad rap and yet can be a gentle night with a new moon, new promise, new eyes for those stirring in the night. Don’t you love to redress older work and see what they will wear now! Will be reading the others from that porch as time allows. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you my friend. I am deciding which of my many older works to reveal here. I have a few hundred and these 12 sonnets caused me to decide to let them see the light of day.

Thank you my friend. I once wrote at a slower pace and saw this world differently, Time is a great teacher.

There is a new moon today and often Luna, when dark, can stir our emotions to a bit of melancholy. Your beautiful sonnet resonates with those emotions Robert. I hope you are having spring with all the joy she brings. xxoo : )
