Fibonacci Poetry Contest  ~ Sponsored by Ink Empress [January 2024] Placed 2nd

Why would people criticise a child’s best efforts because he does not measure up to their own abilities and twisted reasoning? Learning disorders are not to be looked down on; instead, motivation is the key. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Hi Paul, I can relate to this poem, I have a form of dyslexia. Not in the way that I see words backwards, it's a learning disability. I have often felt like I was dumb because my brain didn't work like the other students. One should not be be ridiculed because they have a learning disability. Bravo to you for penning such a write. Congratulations on your win-Alexis

Dear Alexis, none of us are perfect, and there is no shame in having a learning disability. I've had many such students, and I am proud of those who do well in life despite certain limitations. Thank you for stopping by and sharing your personal life experience. Best regards // paul

Bravo! Such truth! Learning disabilities are not something to ridicule. Often the frustration comes from ignorance. We should all do better

Thank you, Eileen. As teachers, we both have had the opportunity to come in close contact with such students, and for a start it is wise to focus on their strengths rather than their weaknesses. Hugs and goodnight // paul

Very sad if people do criticise a childs best efforts, no empathy or understanding and lack of knowledge themselves. If a child has disabilities or learning disorders, he or she must be encouraged, , loved and motivated, not looked down upon, do they not see their own inabilty to smoke too much to drink too much or to commit adultrey all the time, what a shame there are people like this in this world of ours, shame, a crying shame. Hugs blessings Paul, Happy Easter PAUL, ours is in May Congratulations on your win. Hugs Jennifer.

Dear Paul, your golden poetry reveals the beauty of empathy that resides within you and inspires your creative spirit. Your students were very fortunate to have you as a teacher, a role model and a mentor- I should know, you've been all of that for me, plus a wonderful poetry friend too, since I joined PS back in 2017! :) I read below that you've had 2 surgeries.. I hope your lab results yield nothing but good news for you and that your recouperation is going well. We all miss your insightful poetic presence. Warmest wishes and hugs, my dear friend.. ~Susan

Thank you dear Susan. I hadn't been on Soup for a while; lots of catching up to do! The first 2 lab results were not good, but now all malignant cells have been removed, and that sure is a relief! Now it's time to get back into the groove. (still finding it hard to wear reading glasses, so I limit myself to brief periods online) ~ I wish you a happy Easter while sending you warm regards and hugs, my friend // paul

Those that are ignorant of such issues and prone to criticise are, in my opinion, the less well educated. Great poem Paul. Cheers - Gary

Some of our greatest brains are dyslexic. Always think you're as good as your school. Teachers will probably say they haven't the time, which is a cop out.

I think what worsens the situation for children who have learning difficulties is the absence of specialised institutions along with highly qualified educators or teachers of a deep well of tolerance, patience and empathy, mainly in developing countries.. hence with such inabilities, children become an easy prey to narrow minded people and bullies.. This is a life concern that touches humanity and determines their identity and future.. To raise awareness and enlighten the dark hearts and minds in a didactic wonderful poetry is so like you, Paul.. A highly qualified teacher of great experience and worth and a poet of grandeur ! I so much missed reading you.. and it is my immense delight and honour to read your thoughts and visions. I would also like to congratulate you on the honour of your win and placement. My deepest regards and blessings.

Dear Paul, your thoughts touch my heart so deeply. I think this quote fits perfectly here. ' A child is like a butterfly in the wind. Some can fly higher than others, but each one flies the best it can. Each one is different, each one is special and each one is beautiful. ' Your ending thought curls gently around me. ' motivation is the key. ' You're so right, my sweet friend. Your words are beautiful, tender and so uplifting. Many wonderful blessings to you. :) Hugs, Brandy

Nice poem, in fact is not a dis order at all, simply a different way of seeing things, the dis order may be in not being dyslexic. :) xoxo

Thank you for stopping by and airing your view, Aurore:) Personally I prefer calling dyslexia "a learning difficulty". I am happy to say that some students of mine who had dyslexia went on to have successful careers. ~ Warm regards my friend // paul

Hello Paul. Good Morning. Excellent execution on the fibonacci format and wonderful message of worth of dyslexia. Although this appears to be an entry for a contest it stands on its own. Truly. People can be so mean and clueless and insensitive. Have a wonderful morning and day and may people open their eyes and ears. Peace and Blessings always. (smile)

Yes Paul, there is a huge difference between a learning disabled child and a lazy one. A wise, kind educator (and parent) knows the difference. The ignorant do not
