Dressed For the Occasion

In Jerusalem's Holy Temple the High Priest entered the Holy-of-Holies once a year on that Holiest of Days, Yom Kippur From the top of his exotic, oriental turban dressed for the occasion was he Dazzling gems on a breastplate of gold bells ringing from his cloak for you and me... ...to know when he'd entered to beseech of the Lord forgiveness and pardon for every Jew's sins Uttering the Name of the Ineffable One ~ a most solemn proposition And though dressed for the occasion was he how humbling to stand, as if naked, in front of God Who had custom-stitched every inch of his garments ~ commanded him on Yom Kippur what he should do

So ornamental a write contrary to your usual style of expressing in simple lines, just like the brocade the High priest is wearing on this special occasion. A beautiful glimpse into Jewish custom and their way of worship. Lovely penning Gershon !

Great line: And though dressed for the occasion was he/how humbling to stand, as if naked, in front of God…

In the richest apparel imaginable, Aaron and those who succeeded him were systematically undressed by the 'eye' of Him Who designed their vestments, the Sanctuary, the Sinai desert, the world, the universe, the cosmos...

Beautiful, sacred write! I think we all should clean-up, inside and out, when coming before God. This is an incredible, spiritual write, expressing great obedience and love. Well done!

I suppose God was flabbergasted by so much wealth filling clothes instead of bellies?

Wow! Your God was a Democrat? No wonder Joseph rode the donkey whilst pregnant Mary walked behind! Aloha!

God was filling bellies every day with manna from Heaven at that time -- each person according to his/her need. Everyone had just the right amount. No one went hungry. No one was obese. I imagine you don't believe that, but that's the account...

WoW! Gershon, You painted such a image with your chosen words. I could just picture him in his attire. Well done. What was the occasion? Have a nice day and weekend-Alexis

Well, 'Yom Kippur' is Yiddish or Hebrew for 'Day of Atonement.' It is the holiest day of the Jewish Year. Thanks, Alexis.

Yom Kippur is, indeed, the Day of Atonement. Please go to the head of the class, Debra! Peace, Gershon
