Double Eagle
This is so lovely to have and to hold.
It contains nearly an ounce of gold.
Minted in 1907, it’s a century old.
It brings people luck, so I am told.
One side has an eagle flying above the sun.
Miss Liberty holding a torch appears on the other one.
Augustus St. Gaudens contrived the design.
With its amber luster, it looks so fine.
The market price of gold is nearly two grand an ounce.
On this one opportunity, I have to pounce.
I feel a little sad that I must sell this today.
However, there is a lot of money it will bring my way.
One day, gold value may see a decline.
I will buy it back. Wouldn’t that be fine?
