Notes About The Poem

Written for the Ekphrasis contest sponsored by " Robert James Liguori" the art inspired me to raise awareness on Borderline Personality Disorder and romance, as I read the background of it.. please note that this poem also has instagram prompts hosted by "Billie Jama"

Premiere Contest WinnerDora Maar with Green Fingernails, Pablo Picasso

The brush too needs a cubist eye,
hands that inscribe
the architecture of
aftergrowth’s return
to collapse and crawl ~
into the crying rivers of chaotic colors
where the canvas reflects
the cruelty of craving
the tortured tremors of thirsting,
for love did not know
how to lull the lament
of childhood wounds she suppressed
in solitary silence,
while the claustrophobic ghosts
in the murky depths of her mind
keep screaming for an eloquent release,
tracing tumultuous teal,
tearing at the greying grief,
confined in corpse cloudscapes ~
like embers of equinox
emanating from the deep dull darkness
of her splitting sight,
a crippled conscience
in need of a cosmic cure,
while the artist perceives not her angst,
but only her magnetic madness,
distilled through sharp,
shapeshifting shades…

She was an enigmatic alteration,
~ picturesque paradox ~
of a melancholic mannequin,
composed in clamorous calmness,
yet no breeze could
read her unwritten truth.
She fears intimacy, imprisoned
in black-and-white blurs,
the imprints of commitment,
for her nails painted in envious acrylic
resemble her jaded heart,
roaring with jealousy,
afraid of being abandoned,
as romance is the demise of tranquility.
No pill, no pigment can purify
the poison that lurks within
her pining veins, paining in vain…

O demented diamonds of drowsy dusk,
must dialects define
what ebbs and flows between the lines,
like phantoms drifting
through cloudless lamplight?
The psychological turbulence
no fingers could frame ~
and no flame could fathom,
as every emotion ~
is a geometric fracture,
painted as the
funeral of a fragranced future...

Is ‘Ekphrasis’ your middle name? You can bring any painting to life with your word smithing! Great job and enjoy the trophy.

Everyday begins as a canvas that has spoken all that you are, and although painted over countless times by a brush of soul silken sentiment, with a palette of personality mixed methodically of crises and cries, chaos and charms, ambition and apathy, the portrait is always You, always a portrayal of passion framed by the phenomena which your pysche palpitates upon, you are not the picture paused in yesterday, you are the artist eager for a new day...J.A.B.

"into the crying rivers of chaotic colors where the canvas reflects the cruelty of craving the tortured tremors of thirsting, for love did not know how to lull the lament of childhood wounds she suppressed in solitary silence," -- great writing! Indeed, never judge another whose shoes we have not walked in. "while the artist perceives not her angst, but only her magnetic madness, distilled through sharp, shapeshifting shades…" -- Wow! Think you captured it here. As usual, you never disappoint.

Whoaaa! Etched so deep within one’s mind..like a war cry of one’s internal struggles and the battle they fight in hushed silence. Ah! “Solitary silence”! “To collapse and crawl ~ into the crying rivers of chaotic colors where the canvas reflects the cruelty of craving the tortured tremors of thirsting, for love did not know how to lull the lament of childhood and wounds she suppressed” hits so hard and deep! Your words are true power and intense emotions brought to life in your word weaving!

To see without being, to know and understand without living this journey of struggle, to look deep within and pull from your own soul grasping the turmoil is profound; to be an empath is a gift, dear poet

Fantastic write for the contest Ink - you've fully immersed! Dora was so brilliant in her own right and then there was Picasso and all was overshadowed. I particularly love "tearing at the greying grief, confined in corpse cloudscapes ~ like embers of equinox" but then the power in the lines "roaring with jealousy, afraid of being abandoned, as romance is the demise of tranquility" just blew me away! It's everything and more in relation to the contest! Excellent :)

The green eyed monster is such a waste of emotions. Picasso’s paintings often reek of strange beings to me, demented in their thoughts as those we know who have jaded hearts. Abstract creatures tethered by their own madness who create turbulence in calm waves. Provokers, not the kind of people we’d like to know.

Epic, whoa it never ends, but a good thing it is. The fullness of my favorite colors teal, dark verses as well as the alliteration most famous for. Great entry IE. Don't do instragram, but that's nice of Billi Jama! PS is quite enough, lol, April's blessings ps my poem was never read in your contest status.
