I knew a boy in my youth
Who smiled a kiss and whispered light
From gentle lips and kindest hugs
He brought alive – a dream to survive
The tests of time, the doubts
Fears and tears, all the secrets
Brought to life by those dark years
This boy and me, we were bound
By a dream…
He went his way and I went mine
Soon, we would be living – adult lives
Struggling with bills, marriage and all else
That comes with the time – when maturity
Invites a heart to find that life isn’t defined
By the dreams that may endure, yet…
Only inside
After many years – so many painful tears,
There came a sweet time…
When I would realize…
He and I – we were meant for a new life
And, after a time, together…
We would combine our dreams
Our sorrows and our needs,
The faith that encouraged us to believe
The hope and love that continues to breath…
Joy through the life we share,
A life that is being lived on a prayer!
