Does it Matter
Does it matter?
when love pulls away
from the arms of a lover
to become a memory kept
through each dawn and each sunset
where the heart hides
the pain of vulnerability in darkness
and silence is shattered by voices in the mind
Will it still matter?
when this love like others is forgotten
to become a shadowed glimpse
where memories are welcome and explored
before they vanish as quickly as they come
Will you look back?
when time bends the years
and each remembrance becomes a distant hill
crossed with thoughts of lovers
never to be seen again
as they morph into falling stars
that streaked across your heart
brightly blazing, to vanish in the darkness
leaving an image etched in the mind's eye
Will they fade?
as you move towards the sunset
leaving shadows that grow shorter
until they vanish
as you arrive at the horizon to meet death
and every love held and every love lost
will mean nothing
Yet, for a while, for a time
these were the most vibrant beautiful moments lived
and shared, even with the saddest nights endured
for it was the purest treasure you will have known
until your last breath
