For Kim Rodirques - Vo dee of doe poetry contest

Dodoitsu definition: The Dodoitsu is a fixed folk song form of Japanese origin and is often about LOVE or HUMOR. It has 26 syllables made of of four lines of 7, 7, 7, 5 syllables respectively. It is unrhymed and non-metrical.

The dodo (Raphus cucullatus) is an extinct flightless bird that once inhabited the island of Mauritius in the Indian ocean. It was fearless and had a nasty bite, due to its beak.

Some say the bird was extinct due to people coming to Mauritius and hunting the bird for food, as it was no afraid, it was easy prey for sailors and invaders. Some say it died due its natural habitat being destroyed by humans - stealing food and cutting down forests..

three feet tall with grey feathers chubby with flightless small wings but fearless from intruders relic bones remain

what a unique take this is! We have those special birds too, one which can be only found in certain islands, and they dont survive elsewhere. What a brilliant and creative dodoitsu this is, and youv written it too in a very interesting manner. Fearless and beautiful, a bird worth writing about i believe. This made me want to read more about this bird! You really have that skill to keep us readers intrigued and captivated! Ah love this! Pleasure reading

Sad for the bird and so sad that humans did that. I enjoyed reading your contest entry. Reads like a good contender for the contest to me. Way to go. And as Tom said below, it is highly possible that it will return in the New Heaven and the New Earth. Thanks for dropping by my page. Sara K

A very famous extinction story that had no definitive answer as far as I know, although there may be one. This is an excellent topic to write about as we are amidst a mass extinction that many have not realized is occurring.

I believe they will return, along with all other species forced into extinction by man, in the new world to come. In any event, nice dodoitsu (did I spell that right lol)
