Are men supposed to show their strength denying doubts and fears? Should they pretend to play it cool concealing all their tears? When things build up would weakness urge temptation to give in; should one betray signs of defeat because of hurt within? There is a line where macho ends, it’s there for all to see. The mask is ripped and make-up melts; emotions are set free. For men are at their strongest point when they are free to cry. Why must a man lose confidence when tears spill from the eye? For men in touch with feelings are a treasure trove to find. Each woman’s dream and deep desire’s to find one of the kind! A man who’s strong enough to show he has a caring side... well, such a man is sure to be a woman’s joy and pride. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Collaboration between Paul Callus and Eileen Manassian ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

At last (having been victim to a cold) I managed to make my way here, Eileen. Thank you for always being so accommodating when it comes to writing with me; I'm so pleased with the end result...it's what I call seamless, and the subject has been treated with dignified clarity:) Thanks also go to all those who have contributed by their meaningful comments. Hugs // paul

I adore this poem. I hate to think that men feel they can't express their emotions through tears. Breaks my heart. Absolutely love this piece. A definite fav from me.

Hi Elieen, You and Paul have written a good collaboration. I think men should be able to cry if they need to. Bottled up emotions is not good for the soul. If a man can take off the mask and cry( showing a vulnerable side) , well let's just say it touches me deeply.Excellent write. A without a doubt seven:-) Alexis

Hey, sweetie. Always good to read a comment from you. I agree...bottled up emotions can wear away at a person's health. It takes strength to be vulnerable. Thanks ever so much for your kind comment, dear. Hugs

No one should be expected to bottle up their emotions in the long run it can do more harm than good and the 'big boy's don't cry' attitude to little boys is so so wrong. Fabulous collaboration Paul and Eileen:-) hugs Jan xx

Does a man cry?Yes , but it has to be something worthy of tears and some may only cry in private, every man is different as is every women and how they handle emotions is where a separation occurs between everyone, whether male or female..it all comes down to a matter of character as to what's real and what's for show...nice collaboration

Thank you, Frederic. Yes, best to look at it on an individual basis. However, I do wish that we wouldn't condition our little boys by says, "big boys don't cry." We teach them at an early age that it's not manly to give expression to grief or sorrow. In the end, that proves to be detrimental to a man's physical as well as his psychological well being. Thank you for your insightful post.

Darlene....a memory can warm the heart as well. My husband isn't good with showing his emotions, either. I've seen him cry on rare occasions. Those times I've known the feelings run very deep, indeed. Thank you for your visit.

What a beautiful Collaboration. Yes I too feel crying is good for the soul and also brings husband and wife to a more meaningful relationship. Well expressed piece, bravo!

Thanks, Richard. It's a strong man who is secure enough to allow tears to course down his cheeks at the appropriate time. :) I'm glad you liked this collaboration. The idea is Paul's, and I give him due credit. Hugs

A fabulous collab. That is a hard hitting question. I was brought up where men didn't show emotion. We were told "suck it up","don't be a cry baby", "rub some dirt on it", or "be a man". I will tell you I do cry and don't mind showing vulnerability. A fav

Hi, Tim. Yes....it's called conditioning. Unfortunately, it happens all the time. Statics show that on the average men die 7 years earlier than their same age counterparts. I believe it is the result of all the emotions they have to hide. I'm so glad Paul sent this poem to me to work on. It was his idea, I just added the last three stanzas. We collab well together. Thanks for commenting. I'm glad you don't let society dictate your behavior.
