I wish this was my patio!

Our table is set – it looks divine Crystal glasses for our red wine Silver cutlery with which to eat Our favourite meal – oh what a treat The table is set on our patio With romantic music and the lights down low A candle burns to give us light I hope you enjoy this culinary delight Starter Scottish smoked salmon with a lemon wedge Served on a bed of crisp iceberg lettuce With homemade dill mayonnaise Main course Chateaubriand steak cooked medium - there's plenty for two (I ate it on my first date with you!!) Served with Crispy onion rings Sautéed mushrooms French beans, broccoli florets and carrot batons Chunky fries French Mustard Dessert Homemade chocolate almond brownie Served with rich chocolate sauce and double cream Tea or freshly brewed coffee Bon Appetit! Footnote… Writing this menu brings back many memories of a meal we had … on our first date we ate at a lovely restaurant called ‘Celebrity’ it was the first time I had ever been taken to somewhere so posh where the lady gets the menu without the prices on. After the starter the waiter brought over apricot sorbet – in my innocence I said … but I’ve not had my main course yet and I’ve not even chosen the dessert ... ‘madam’ he said it is to cleanse your palate – oh the innocence of youth ! 10~25~15 Contest: For all ladies and brave men Sponsor: Judy Konos

I had to add that final bit Duke - yes I was young - my parents could never afford 'fine dining' so it was a novel experience in fact i think it has only happened to me once since - an i ate my 'pudding' with delight and kept quiet :-) hugs Jan xx

I've had that same 'sorbet' experience! I'm so glad I just finished a delicious dinner, otherwise your write would have my mouth watering. I think you did a great job, very romantic ... CayCay

Jan, I would have been as confused as you if someone ever brought me a sorbet first!! Good grief. I don't even eat in these kinds of places. Way too stuffy for me. Good old burgers and fries will do. haha. GREAT job with this. I need to get on mine right away!!

We look back and laugh about it but if you have never experienced this level of service before lets just say it was confusing - and in Britain we don't have 'salad as separate course -I remember eating in the states and the 'salad' we were given was so enormous I could hardly eat my main course - gosh that was many many years ago and i used to eat a lot more then than i do now:-( hugs jan xx

Lol your footnote made me laugh, I remember as a youngster trying to be sophisticated on a date and the waiter asked how I wanted my steak done, which had never been a choice I had ever been given! So I asked what choices I had which was a medium cooked or well done. My reply was of course I wanted them to do a jolly good job! I think my date realised the country bumpkin was serious. Good luck in the contest. : )

Thanks Kim - I had to tell the story of the sorbet - it is over 25 years ago that this happened - sure made my hubby smile when we reminisced and Chateaubriand steak was our first meal together at this very posh restaurant:-) hugs jan xx
