Diddly Squat

Diddly Squat ain’t ‘not a lot’ for it’s nothing at all Not a few, nor one or two, and it won’t fill a hall For diddly squat ain't half a pot It’s like the muse I’ve got For diddly squat is ‘out of stock’, nada and sod all

Very fitting for the occasion of a bite sized piece, Terry. Understatement but Understandable. Congratulations are in order.

During the 1930's, 'Diddly Squat" was coined due to an observation of someone squatting while doodling in the sand...apparently..there is more to it at Wikipedia but it's all a bit boring and confusing..not like your limerick Terry..which is brilliant and funny. PS Have you ever 'doodled' in the sand? :) Cheers - Gary

Thanks, Gary. The origins of some of our expressions never cease to amaze (I like ‘freeze the balls off a brass monkey’ but I’ll bet a pound to a penny you know its origin). I was a teenage boy once, so yes, I’ve doodled in the sand but the subject matter is not fit for public consumption. ;-) Terry

Very clever Terry! I am sure you made your muse laugh with your witty limerick! Congratulations on your first place win!

No worries, Sam, my muse is purely hypothetical, metaphorical and figurative (take your pick). She/it dwells in my mind and pushes out those lightbulb moments. When I wrote Diddly Squat the conveyor belt was at a standstill. She’ll be chuffed that you liked her work ;-) Terry

Thank you Christuraj. I often find that when you have writers block, the best thing to write about... is writers block. Glad you enjoyed. Terry

If this ain't hilarious, then my name isn't Pope Francis Contrarious! I really laughed at this one, Terry. Great limerick. Kudos, Gershon

Hey, Tom. I’m scribbling bits, some of which I might post if they read okay another day. I’m slowly shaping up something ‘cowboy’ but I haven’t figured an ending yet. Watch this space. Terry

Thanks, Milt. True too right now. Written some scraps in the last few days but still waiting for that light-bulb moment. Terry
