The Franklin Mountains of Texas are a small range, 23 miles long and 3 miles wide extending from El Paso, Texas, north into New Mexico. The highest peak is North Franklin Peak at 7,192 feet. Much of the range is part of the Franklin Mountains State Park. For El Pasoans, the Franklin Mountains appear to rise up out of the Chihuahuan Desert. They are a colorful contrast to the sand dunes and barren desert below them.

What a beautiful haiku, Sara! You have given such a sense of these majestic peaks almost like guardians of the wilderness. Love the word "loom." A perfect word. Thank you for introducing me to this beautiful place. Gratitude and blessings!
