Delusions of Glory

In light of the mass shootings that have occurred; I cannot help but look at the circumstances and the ideations, fueling the behavior of these perpetrators. It is not the gun, it is the psychologically damaged individuals who are triggered by their broken lives.

The game is over. Lifeless, shattered dreams, lie upon the blood stained floor; provoked by emotional imbalance and societal conflict, the trigger is pulled. Lifeless, shattered dreams, lie upon the blood stained floor, manifested in euphoric delusional dreams; the trigger is pulled, God, family, and community abandoned. Manifested in euphoric delusional dreams, seeking power and control; God, family, and community abandoned, living in the shadows of dark despair. Fantasizing in glory, provoked by emotional imbalance and societal conflict; the trigger is pulled, the game is over.

Enjoyed your poem...it's interesting that we find this chaos in every generation. Habakkuk, in 600-612 BC, complains to God that He is doing nothing to take care of the rampant chaotic goings on in Judah... God eventually takes care of the problem, but not in the way Habakkuk would like. Much like we see in our own world today. God take care of thing in His own way, in His own time...and it may not be according to our wishes. You are extremely talented, keep up the Great work. Have a Great day.

Hi Peter, thank you for your generous comments which made my day! Also, it is interesting that you referred to Habakkuk's scripture....it is one I have highlighted in my Bible. It seems the world and humankind are on a perpetual cycle where the passion for Good and passion for Evil are always jousting for position. Thanks for stopping by. :)Paulette

a great write for a general way to look at this. Let's keep guns out of it okay. Why does the U.S. breed so many psychopathic killers compared to other wealthy first world nations? Maybe that's the question we should deal with. True many Indigenous tribes were warring upon each other, but they weren't committing genocide. They should have had the right to evolve on their own, but were anayalated instead! Be Safe! ; ) Good one Rico!

Your warnings that we needed to heal the wounded, still ring true. Your loving light still resonates all over the world, but we need strength, to save each other and our environment. In most of such atrocities, we find that people with psychic problems and broken hearts are the culprits . How to prevent such occurrences remains a question mark. People from broken families and people who are addicted to drugs create untold misery to the whole land. You are absolutely right Paulette.... gun is not the cause of such atrocities but the hands that pull the trigger. A sensational poem.

line by line reinforces why i skip the news and am currently on a Green Gables binge on Netflix....line by line a stark reminder of the failings...what i am looking forward to is arriving at the gates and hearing someone yell...told ya he was going to make it...but you have achieved a "Spot On" line by line....high reality, thank you

i call them Blue Necks....not a neuron devoted to history, economics, logic, or reason....they blame Columbus without knowing there existed all the meanness of manunkind already here...the collapse of the paleolithic by the neolithic swept the world...that sentence alone baffles them...gas prices? solution google Big Inch Pipelines of WW II

Hi Timothy, I favor the Epoch times but no matter what we watch or read these horrendous crimes fill our angry world, perpetuated by the nefarious agenda our leaders are propelling. The heart has done many an otherwise good soul in -- If God is first in one's life, then everything else can be dealt with relatively sanely. Of course, it also depends on one's understanding of God. If you pray to a vengeful God, a God of rage, of unforgiving anger when provoked, than all bets are off. Thoughtful write. Lots to unpack.
