Deep Waters - Magritte
all things are covered over
given texture, rather than context
so much so that it all becomes hard to believe
until you realise, you didn't need to believe at all
nothing matters - is the stark reality
let us all close our eyes to it
take odd comfort in presentation
grid patterns and sockets haunt
the absence of absence
something is here, perhaps just the viewer
and the haunting
dark cloaks sit on or at our shoulders
the pallette of this world is too limited
can some of us see through it?
fleshy colours for trachea and talon
eyes trained on jugular
there is no harm done
all we fear
we all fear
fear
stuck in our throats
as we close our eyes
become fixed in time
until time runs out
something in the composition will kill us
lungs full of yesterday's air
blurring today
leaving fear in sharp focus
even when it no longer makes sense
