Dear Old Friends Who Came To See the Lake

Hello, dear friends, it’s good to have you here. It’s dark out still! You came before the dawn! You say you want to go down to the pier? First let me go and put the kettle on. Okay, I should have known your fondest wish would be to see the lake. Let’s sit and chat. You say you cannot wait to go and fish? First taste this brand new tea. I got it at the one new shop in town. It’s been so long I guess you have not even heard about our tourist trade. My gosh, it’s gone all wrong. You did not hear about our horrid drought? The lake, of which I know you were so fond, is nothing now since it became a pond! Feb. 25, 2018 for Nayda Ivette Negron's "Kettle, Pond, Lake" Contest

We are like the fish that now must be out of water, both rushing to fill that kettle Andrea. I would never refuse a nice cup of tea. That's the Irish in me.

I love this. What a beautiful story. Here in Calif., I can totally relate. I can hear the yearning for company in her voice.
