For the Contest, The Moon At Day
Sponsor, Suzette Roberts
By night, we see the Moon mid sparkling stars
that light our planets, Venus, Earth, and Mars.
But, there are times the Moon by day is ours.
It, on those days, looks shy- against a sun-filled sky
surrounded by clouds high- and pale as ghosts, float by.
The Moon by day evokes a softer show:
a gauzy, pearly shape without a glow;
a contrast to its midnight-beaming flow.
This double vision boon- a combined Sun and Moon
presents at sunrise soon- or even afternoon.
Defying logic, this scene sometimes jars
our thoughts that this strange sight cannot apply;
that Sun and Moon can share the same plateau
when Cosmos offers ways they can commune.
